NT Government Scholarships and Bursaries

All applications for 2008 have now closed.

Early each year the Northern Territory Government offers the following scholarships and bursaries:

Higher Education Scholarships for School Leavers

Forty scholarships worth $3500 are available to school leavers to undertake full-time degree studies. Scholarships are awarded on the Tertiary Entrance Rank (or equivalent) with the top ten successful applicants receiving an additional $1500 in the first year of study.

The scholarships are only awarded for study interstate where the core program is not offered at Charles Darwin University.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) Scholarships

Twenty scholarships worth $4000 are available to Territorians studying Certificate III to Diploma level courses. Applications will be assessed by an independent panel that will also consider areas of skill shortages and labour demand.

VET scholarships are available for one year only with study to be undertaken with a registered training provider in the Northern Territory.

The scholarships are not available to apprentices or trainees.

Student Teacher Bursaries

Bursaries are available to people who plan to study or have already started studying for a degree in education. They are also available to people who have finished a degree and intend to study for a Graduate Diploma in Primary or Secondary Education.

In 2008, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from potential Middle Year, Early Childhood, Maths and Science preservice teachers.

Twenty bursaries are available worth $12 000 per year.

Arts Scholarships

The scheme is open to any young and emerging Territorian artists (up to 26 years of age) intending to study fulltime in an arts field in either an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate levels III or IV.
