Employer Incentives and Assistance
As part of Budget 2007 the Northern Territory Government released Jobs Plan 3. This initiative continues the momentum of previous Jobs Plans and will further assist employment growth in the Territory and the development of a highly skilled and flexible workforce.
Under Jobs Plan 3 the Northern Territory Government has committed over $3m to encourage Territory businesses to employ additional apprentices and trainees. This will assist in countering the affects of skill shortages on the Northern Territory economy and assist disadvantage groups in gaining employment through apprenticeships and traineeships.
The second round of these incentives was released in April 2008. The second round is comprised of:
- 140 NT Occupational Shortages Employer Incentives (released 19 April 2008)
- 50 NT Disadvantaged Groups Employer Incentives (released 1st April 2008)
