Reporting Student Achievement against National Benchmarks

A Multilevel Assessment Program (MAP) Individual Student Report for each child in Years 3, 5 and 7 is provided to parents/carers at the end of the school year. This report shows the level of the student’s achievement in numeracy, reading and writing against the National Literacy and Numeracy Benchmarks. An explanation of how to read the report is included in the report package. This is a systemic, standardised assessment conducted under test conditions.

It is possible that student performance under test conditions may differ from teacher judgements of ongoing assessment. For example, this assessment was taken under test conditions, i.e. within a set time limit and working independently.

The MAP Report and the student’s other reports (school developed report and the A to E Report) together give a picture of the student’s achievement. Keep in mind however, that the MAP test took place in early Term 3 and students may have improved in the time between this assessment and end of year school-based assessments.
