Educational Psychology Services / Guidance Officers
The Department of Employment, Education and Training employs Guidance Officers who provide psycho-educational information, through consultative processes, assessment, and planned interventions for schools and parents. Consultation also occurs with Student Services and Children’s Development Team personnel. The key focus of Guidance intervention is the provision of psycho-educational information relevant to students' learning needs.
Assessment occurs in three domains:
- Intellectual and Academic Assessment
- Adaptive Functioning Assessment
- Social and Emotional Assessment
Guidance Officers have educational and psychological training and teaching experience. They use a consultancy model of service delivery, working in partnership with teachers and parents.
