Student film review
If you love watching movies, why not write a review of one of the films shown at the screening? A DVD of the competition’s best entries will be sent to your school within two weeks of the Connecting Through Film Schools Film Festival. You could win either $50 or $100 plus be selected for the 2009 Connecting Through Film judging panel. Winners will be announced late October.
There will be 10 winners in the following categories:

| Transition - Year 3 | 2 ($50) | Draw or create a picture of either:
Students could create a picture using paints, crayons, collage, a drawing program such as KidPix, or any other suitable means. Note: Students’ writing may be transcribed by an adult if required. |
| Years 4 - 6 | 2 ($100) | A short hand written or typed movie review (approx. 1 written page) that may include a drawing if desired. Students could use the movie review template (word 451Kb) to help them structure their writing. The judges will look for quality of ideas and demonstration of an attempt to edit and proofread work. |
| Years 7 - 9 | 3 ($100) | A hand written or typed movie review (250 – 500 words) that demonstrates depth of thought and is more than just a summary of the movie with a personal opinion tacked on. Judges will look for a review that demonstrates depth of thought and many of the features highlighted in the Sample Movie Review (pdf 20Kb). The scoring guide (pdf 56Kb) will give students an idea of the characteristics judges will consider. However, these will be used less rigorously at the Year 7 - 9 level than for Year 10 - 12 students. |
| Years 10 - 12 | 3 ($100) | A hand written or typed movie review (250-700 words) that demonstrates a clear understanding of the purpose, structure and language features of this genre. Judges will use the scoring guide (pdf 56Kb) to score your review. |
You must complete the Film Review Entry Form (word 458Kb) and send in your review by 4pm Friday 3 October.
