Entry information
Connecting Through Film aims to encourage Territory school students to connect with each other by telling their stories through film.
Films should be no longer than 5 minutes and may not have been publicly screened anywhere before the festival.
Films must not contain excessive violence, sexual references or coarse language.
Films can be made by individuals or groups of school students. Teachers working with students must integrate filmmaking with their teaching programs. Other adults, parents or guardians may also assist and support students but the filmmaking work must be done by students.
Teachers working with students from Transition to Year 3 on a film may complete the majority of cinematography, film editing and creating the sound track with assistance and input from students. However, students must be highly involved in conceiving the film, developing the story line and dialogue, costuming, props and sets etc. that do not require minimum levels of ICT expertise.
We will notify the people who made the winning films in mid August. Filmmakers may be asked to participate in media interviews and promotion in the lead-up to or after the festival.
The 13 winning films will be screened at the Connecting Through Film festival on Saturday 30 August 2008 at the Deckchair Cinema in Darwin.
You will need to submit:
- Completed Entry Form (769Kb)
- Completed Terms and Conditions of Entry (pdf 54Kb)
- 2 DVD copies of your film
Supply each DVD in a separate case. Clearly mark both DVDs with the film title and the “Entry ID Number” we sent you. Remember to check your DVDs to make sure they play back – if they don’t, your entry will be disqualified. For best quality presentation we will accept entries on mini DV and DVPro tape (only send copies of your production, not your master). Ideally your film should be at 16:9 widescreen for best presentation on the night. Connecting Through Film 2008 Schools Film Festival accepts no responsibility for loss or damage of your film entry while in the post.
However, Connecting Through Film 2008 Schools Film Festival will be responsible for the film once received and in preview or screening at festivals. - 3 electronic colour production stills
These should be 3 different images of behind-the-scenes photos that include the main crew.
