Curriculum connections
Movie making is not only a highly motivating and engaging activity for students. Teachers that plan integrated units of work that culminate in students creating a movie can meet many curriculum outcomes.
Movies can me made on virtually any topic, allowing students to work towards outcomes in key learning areas such as SOSE, Health and PE, Science, Languages, The Arts and Mathematics.
Movie making requires students to plan, storyboard, write, design, make, act, film, create or use music effectively and edit. They must think creatively and reflectively, problem-solve, work in teams, fulfil specific roles and resolve conflicts. Teachers will see the clear links between these skills and the EsseNTial Learnings of the NTCF.
Students can work towards several Learning Technology outcomes from the NTCF by engaging in movie making projects. Teachers are encouraged to select the one or two Learning Technology outcomes that align the closest with their students needs for assessment purposes.
