Interstate Student Data Transfer Note
A new system for transferring student information across territory and state borders has come into effect this year.
The Interstate Student Data Transfer Note (ISDTN) and Protocol is a joint initiative between the Australian Government, State and Territory Education Departments, and the independent and Catholic education sectors.
All education authorities have agreed to implement, from 1 January 2006, a national system for the transfer of student information between schools when children move from one state to another.
This national system will enhance the ability of the student's new school to place and support that student in a timely manner and with the assistance of accurate information from the student's previous school. The national system is based on using a common "Interstate Student Data Transfer Note" and set of protocols.
All schools are now expected to be using the ISDTN and are encouraged to utilise the MCEETYA website for further information and ISDTN forms.
The Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) is currently working with its Student Administration Management System (SAMS) team to have the ISDTN incorporated into enrolment processes for the NT.
Further information on the ISDTN is available on the MCEETYA website.
