Promoting a quality, sustainable, innovative non-government schools education sector in the Northern Territory.
The Chief Executive of the Department of Employment, Education and Training has the power to register non-government schools in the Northern Territory under The Education Act, Part VII - Non-Government Educational Institutions, Sections 61-68. The Minister for Employment, Education and Training holds the power to determine appeals against the Chief Executive’s decision.
A Non-Government School Ministerial Advisory Council has been established to consider policy on the registration, regulation, and standards of non-government schools.
