The Northern Territory Indigenous Education Council (NTIEC)
The Northern Territory Indigenous Education Council is an Indigenous representative advisory body appointed by the Minister for Employment, Education and Training to provide advice and make recommendations to the NT Government and Australian Government Ministers on education for Indigenous students in the Northern Territory.
The Minister announced the appointment of the inaugural chair and council members on 30 October 2007 at Karama Primary School.

Members have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Indigenous education and possess substantial experience and skills in other related areas such as health, housing and business.
A key role of the council is to consult directly with Indigenous people across the Territory on a regular basis and reflect Indigenous people’s views, aspirations and concerns on education services and outcomes for Indigenous students, with a particular focus on improving attendance, literacy and numeracy and transition pathways from school to work or further study.
