Workforce Development Strategy 2003-2005
This strategy establishes a whole of organisation approach to professional learning and training and will:
- Build the capacity of staff as individuals and as members of
the Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET);
- Position DEET to better meet the education, employment and training needs
of the Territory now and in the future;
- Implement the professional learning sections of current Enterprise
Bargaining Agreements and a number of recommendations from the
Learning
Lessons review of Indigenous education;
- Contribute to positioning DEET as a learning organisation.

One objective
Effective, targeted professional learning and training that are aligned with system goals and meet the needs of staff throughout their careers.

- Professional learning and training is integral to a quality

- Workforce development is aligned to the needs of the system,
the workplace and the individual
- Professional learning plans are aligned to system priorities
and needs
- Workforce development is based on mutual obligation:
- All staff share and apply learning
- Leadership supports a learning culture
- Workplace learning communities support sharing of knowledge,
skills, diversity and innovation
- Transparency and equity underpin access to, and provision of professional learning and training.
