Friday 29 July 2005

Hanson Training Services (Australia) Pty Ltd and Central Australian Remote Health Development Services are both in the running for Training Provider of the Year category in this year’s Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) NT Training Awards.

Hanson’s logo states: ‘Let us help you shine’. Now they are in the spotlight for providing solutions. They focus on nurturing and professional training, one-on-one or in small groups.

Originally a family business, Hanson has grown to employ a number of professional staff. They have also expanded their core of computing and business-based subjects to include driver training and hospitality. In response to remote needs, horticulture, land regeneration and nursery practices will soon be added.

Hanson pride themselves on flexible and innovative practice, handling inquiries Australia-wide and specialising in culturally appropriate remote community work. Expansion into the global marketplace has begun with Mongolia, China and Canada.

The Central Australian Remote Health Development Services (CARHDS) logo depicts a central base and outreach in all directions. This Aboriginal controlled education provider has delivered competency based training to 150 Aboriginal Health Workers across 36 primary health care services, with a further 35 participants in the workplace English language and literacy program. Over 100 agencies are partners in training delivery.

Innovative CARHDS approaches use the internet, interactive multimedia, music and theatre to develop multimedia CD-ROMs for health promotion and prevention programs.

Client feedback and knowledge of clients and markets is integral to the way CARHDS goes about its business. Clients say: ‘CARHDS is a good agency’ and ‘CARHDS is here for the long-term’.

The Awards Presentation will be held on 10 September at a gala dinner in Darwin.
