18 remote DEET staff to receive workforce development scholarships

DEET Chief Executive Margaret Banks has congratulated 18 remote employees for their successful applications under the 2006-07 Remote Workforce Development Scholarship Program.

Ms Banks said the recipients would receive a total of $86,958, with individual scholarships ranging from $1250 to $10 000.

“I congratulate each recipient upon their successful application and know these funds have the potential to make a huge difference to each one of them.”

“We greatly value our remote staff and support their efforts to develop their skills and knowledge through professional and workforce development opportunities.”

The scholarship program is designed to provide the opportunity for financial assistance for employees in remote localities to access professional development activities. It is an initiative of the Office for the Commissioner of Public Employment (OCPE).
