‘Learn & Earn’ – DEET’s message to 2005 showgoers
Friday 1 July 2005
This year’s Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) show exhibit focuses on training for jobs and career pathways – and looks at a range of opportunities to “learn”, and ultimately “earn”. Minister Syd Stirling visited the display on Friday 1 July, the first day of the Alice Springs Show.
“As the Territory economy continues to grow, it’s important that Territorians are prepared to take full advantage of the many and varied job opportunities now available,” Mr Stirling said in his Minister’s message, part of the DEET display.
The DEET exhibit highlights some of the many training options available through vocational education and training (VET) – including programs for secondary school students; for those seeking to get into the workforce; and for Territorians considering a new career or wanting to ‘upskill’.
Visitors to the exhibit can experience the interactive displays - to discover exactly which learning path they need to follow for a range of specific occupations, many of which presently have skill shortages.
The DEET Show display also embraces DEET's major priorities and highlights the responsibilities and roles of all divisions.
