Middle Years event

Darwin, Palmerston and rural middle schools are invited to participate in the first Darwin-wide Middle Years event to celebrate the opening of the Darwin Convention Centre. The event has been designed for Year 7 students and will be held on the morning of Wednesday 18 June.

Schools are being invited to engage Year 7 Middle Years students either through:

  • On stage participation developed through a school based Authentic Learning Project during term 2, OR
  • As members of an interactive audience on the day.

The focus of the event is the concept of Celebration delivered through a Middle Years, learner centred philosophy. Schools are encouraged to develop a 10 minute presentation or performance for the event.

Teaching, Learning and Standards are encouraging and supporting school participation through the Authentic Learning Grants. Grants of $3000 will allow schools to involve students in developing an innovative and contextualised performance or presentation based on the concept of Celebration.

Registration form

To assist with planning please register your school’s participation by Thursday 24 April 2008. A program of the event will be sent to participating schools during week 8.
